Stripping a Lien From Your Property

If you have filed for protection under Chapter 13 and you have a second mortgage on real property, you can remove the lien of the second mortgage from your property, provided you can show that your second lien is totally unsecured (the value of the property does not support the first lien and the second lien). The second lien will then become an unsecured debt, which can then be discharged through the Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceeding.
